WHEN IS THE CONFEDERATION CUP

CAF

The FIFA Confederations Cup is  from 15 to 30 June 2013
The tournament was originally organised by and held in Saudi Arabia and called the King Fahd Cup

Since 2005, the tournament has been held in the nation that will host the FIFA World Cup in the following year, acting as a rehearsal for the larger tournament. Brazil will host the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.

Generally, the host nation, the World Cup holders, and the six continental champions qualify for the competition. In those cases where a team meets more than one of the qualification criteria (such as the 2001 tournament where France qualified as the World Cup champions and European champions), another team is invited to participate, often the runner-up in a competition that the extra-qualified team won.

SIX NATIONS RUGBY

The Six Nations Championship is an annual international rugby union competition involving six European sides

Namely

  • England
  • France
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Scotland

England and Wales are the joint current record holders for outright wins of the Home Nations, Five Nations and Six Nations tournaments, with 26 titles each, although Wales add to that record with 12 shared victories to England's 10 shared titles. Since the Six Nations era started in 2000.

Played annually, the format of the Championship is simple: each team plays every other team once, with home field advantage alternating from one year to the next. Two points are awarded for a win, one for a draw and none for a loss. Unlike many other rugby union competitions the bonus point system is not used.

Itumeleng Khune was born 20 June 1987, in South Africa at Ventersdorp, North West, position playing goal keeper. He was part of Bafana Bafana's 2008 African Nations Cup squad but was not fielded until he made his international debut against Zimbabwe on 11 March 2008.

Khune was selected for the 2010 FIFA World Cup as Carlos Alberto Parreira's first-choice goalkeeper and made some good saves in the opening match against Mexico. However on 16 June 2010 he was sent off against Uruguay when he tripped Luis Suárez inside the penalty area in the 77th minute.

Current team, Kaizer Chiefs. Khune’s ability as a goalkeeper has been on the rise ever since he famously faced off against deadly striker Fernando Torres in the 2009 Fifa Confederations Cup and defied the Spaniard with a save which displayed his inherent talent for performing on the big stage.

The goalkeeper may want to put the memories of the 2010 World Cup on the backburner, but he has risen from the ashes of South Africa’s early demise three years ago. Earning the captaincy of both his club side and the national team, Khune is fast becoming an icon of South African football for the current generation.
